Sessions In Progress
With a special session in the works, we had an ear to the ground and an eye on the Legislature to see
what would happen during this session. At the close of the session, the Governor signed three bills: HB1, HB2 and SB1.
HB1 Feed Bill – which provides funding for the third special session and SB1 Appropriations & Expenditures – which will set aside $50 million for community projects around the state.
She also signed HB2 Tax Rebates: this bill will use $698 million to provide Tax Rebates – $500 for single filers and $1000 for joint filers. The bill also set aside $20 million to provide relief for people that did not
file income taxes, on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The Governor feels this will ease the burden on New Mexicans from high national prices, putting money
in our pockets and protecting our paychecks, according to the NM Political Report.
